Caretaker Jailed 10 Years for Electrocution of 14-Year-Old.

A High Court in Accra has sentenced Richmond Laweh, a 25-year-old caretaker, to 10 years in prison for manslaughter after his illegal electrical wiring led to the death of a 14-year-old boy, Samuel Darko. The tragic incident occurred in Ampomah, near Ashiyie, where Laweh had connected a live wire to a makeshift gate blocking a public pathway.The boy, unaware of the electrified gate, was fatally electrocuted while attempting to open it. Despite Laweh's claims of hiring a professional for the illegal connection, the court found his actions reckless, endangering public safety.Justice Marie-Louise Simmons emphasized the severity of the act, urging state institutions to be more proactive in preventing illegal electrical connections.
