INEC disowns fake 2027 election timetable
The Independent National Electoral Commission has dismissed a purported timetable for the 2027 general election circulating online, describing it as fake and misleading.In a statement, INEC said it has not released any timetable or schedule of activities for the 2027 polls and urged Nigerians to ignore the document being shared on social media and other platforms. The commission stressed that it operates strictly within the law, noting that Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 requires INEC to publish a Notice of Election not later than 360 days before the date fixed for a general election.It explained that any timetable issued outside this legal framework could not have originated from INEC.
