Residents of Western Region Demand Completion of Abandoned School Projects.

Residents of the Western Region, particularly in the Shama District, are raising concerns over the increasing number of abandoned infrastructure projects, especially in the education sector. Opinion leaders are calling on authorities to prioritize the completion of stalled school projects, as these delays negatively impact teaching and learning. One example is the Ohiamadwen D/A Primary, where a teachers' bungalow started under the NDC government in 2015 was abandoned following their loss in the 2016 elections. Another is a three-unit classroom block for Assorko Junior High School, initiated by former MP Ato Panford and the Shama District Assembly in 2019. School for Life Reactivates Education Oversight Committees in Northern and North East Region.

Sagnarigu (N/R), March 30, GNA – School for Life, an NGO, has initiated efforts to reactivate Municipal and District Education Oversight Committees (M/DEOCs) across its eight operational zones as part of the USAID/Ghana Strengthening Accountability in Ghana’s Educational System-Systems Strengthening Activity. These committees are responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of education at the local level but have faced challenges with resources and capacity, making it difficult for them to fulfill their roles.Madam Wedad Sayibu, Director of School for Life, highlighted the importance of reactivating the M/DEOCs to address educational challenges and improve performance in primary schools within the Zones of Influence (ZoI) of the USAID/Ghana SAGES Systems Strengthening Activity.
