George Sarpong Warns Against Rising Hate Speech and Misinformation in Ghana

George Sarpong, Executive Director of the Media Foundation, has warned that the spread of hate speech and misinformation is fast becoming a grave threat to democratic stability and national cohesion. Speaking at a three-day journalist training workshop in Tamale themed “Hate Speech, Misinformation, and Disinformation,” Sarpong said unchecked false narratives and divisive rhetoric are eroding public trust and undermining the foundations of democracy. The workshop was organized by the ECOWAS Peace and Security Group (EPSG) in partnership with the Ghana National Peace Council (NPC).
