Ebonyi Festival Turns Bloody as Youth Killed in Clash
A traditional festival in Amangbala, Ohaisu community in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State turned violent in the early hours of Monday, leaving a young man dead. The victim, identified simply as Peter, was stabbed during a confrontation inside the Ogo Amaokwu Amangbala chamber, where youths were preparing costumes for the Iko Ohaisu festival. Community sources said trouble started around 1 a.m. when a youth named Daniel entered the chamber and demanded a ₦1,000 levy from those present, claiming he and his group had cleaned the place. Witnesses explained that an argument broke out after Peter told him he did not have the money.
