NDLEA arrests fake pregnancy drug trafficker, real estate CEO in major raids

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a woman who allegedly used a fake pregnancy bump to traffic drugs, along with a Lagos based real estate chief executive accused of running a cannabis distribution network. The agency said both suspects were picked up in separate operations that also led to multiple seizures across several states. At the Seme land border, operatives intercepted 35 year old businesswoman Rabi Muhammad as she attempted to cross into Benin Republic with 3,200 tramadol 225mg capsules tied around her waist and hidden under an artificial baby bump. She was taken into custody after officers discovered the drugs during a routine search. Mexico fears Colombian narcos may sneak in as World Cup fans

Mexican authorities are working to stop Colombians linked with local drug cartels from using the 2026 World Cup to enter the country as fans. Security officials in Jalisco State say they are on high alert ahead of the tournament, which will bring tens of thousands of visitors to host city Guadalajara. Roberto Alarcon, Jalisco’s coordinator for strategic security, said there is a growing trend of Colombian ex soldiers and former guerrillas being recruited by organised crime in Mexico. He noted that some foreign nationals had already been turned back after failing to clearly explain the purpose of their visit. Officials fear that as the World Cup draws closer, foreign recruits could try to slip in using tourist packages and match tickets as cover. Alarcon warned that Guadalajara is an attractive base for certain criminal groups seeking to expand their operations. […]

Trump renews Greenland push, warns Cuba, Colombia, Mexico

US President Donald Trump has again set his sights on Greenland after ordering military action in Venezuela, saying the United States “needs” the Arctic territory for national security and accusing Denmark of being unable to protect it. He accused Colombian President Gustavo Petro of overseeing cocaine production and warned that Petro “won’t be doing it for long,” while suggesting a possible US operation in Colombia “sounds good” to him. Mexico was likewise warned to “get its act together” over drug cartels, with Trump hinting at […]

Trump unveils strategy to shift US military focus closer to home

President Donald Trump has released a new national security strategy that calls for a major realignment of United States military deployments around the world. The document proposes a “readjustment” of the US global military presence, moving more forces and assets toward the Western Hemisphere to tackle what it describes as urgent regional threats, including migration, drug cartels and instability in Latin America and the Caribbean. According to the strategy, the US will gradually scale back its footprint in some overseas theatres, while boosting Coast Guard and Navy patrols to control sea lanes, curb illegal and unwanted migration, and disrupt human and drug trafficking routes. The plan also places heavy emphasis on strengthening ties with governments across Latin America to secure strategic resources, expand US private sector investment and reinforce what the document frames as “Western identity” and traditional values. While […]

Eleven years after 43 students from Ayotzinapa teacher training college disappeared, relatives and supporters returned to the streets of Mexico City on Friday, demanding truth and justice in a case that remains one of the country’s darkest human rights scandals.
