The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a woman who allegedly used a fake pregnancy bump to traffic drugs, along with a Lagos based real estate chief executive accused of running a cannabis distribution network. The agency said both suspects were picked up in separate operations that also led to multiple seizures across several states.
At the Seme land border, operatives intercepted 35 year old businesswoman Rabi Muhammad as she attempted to cross into Benin Republic with 3,200 tramadol 225mg capsules tied around her waist and hidden under an artificial baby bump. She was taken into custody after officers discovered the drugs during a routine search.
In a related operation, NDLEA officers at the Lagos airport arrested a man identified as Anunwa Onyinye Michael, also known as Mahamadou Gohouri, who had ingested 82 wraps of cocaine. Investigations showed he had shuttled between Lagos, Enugu and Kano before swallowing the drugs in a Kano hotel, with plans to deliver them in Milan for a fee of 5,000 euros.
The agency also confirmed the arrest of 57 year old Kolapo Oladapo Raji, chairman and chief executive of Trans Fortress Global Resources, at his residence in Ikate, Lekki. NDLEA said Raji, who had been on its watchlist since 2025, was found with four large bags containing 89.2 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, and a 2024 Toyota Hilux.
According to investigators, Raji admitted he initially financed drug consignments for an overseas partner before setting up his own supply network after making huge profits. The agency said other suspects were arrested in Lagos, Edo, Bauchi, Ondo, Delta and Kogi, with large quantities of skunk and pharmaceutical opioids recovered during the week long operations.
NDLEA warned traffickers that disguises such as fake pregnancies and complex financing networks will not shield them from detection. It urged the public to continue sharing credible intelligence to help dismantle drug cartels and protect communities from illicit substances.
