Israel strikes Beirut after recent ceasefire

Israel carried out air strikes on southern Beirut on Sunday, marking the first attack on the Lebanese capital since a ceasefire was brokered last week with US involvement. Lebanon's state news agency reported that two strikes hit apartment buildings in the Dahieh district, an area considered a Hezbollah stronghold. Two people were killed and at least 17 others were injured. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the operation targeted "terrorist headquarters in the Dahieh district of Beirut" and was conducted in response to Hezbollah fire into Israeli territory.
