Delta police arrest four suspected cultists, recover firearms, illicit drugs
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists in separate operations, recovering firearms, ammunition and illicit drugs in a renewed crackdown on cult‑related crime. Police spokesman SP Bright Edafe said the first arrest was made on April 11, 2026, when operatives attached to Delta Shield apprehended a 32‑year‑old suspect, Peter Onajite, at Orerokpe in Okpe Local Government Area. A search on him led to the recovery of a locally made double‑barrelled cut‑to‑size pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge and sachets of suspected Tramadol. Edafe said the suspect confessed during preliminary interrogation to being the leader of the Juris Confraternity and remains in custody while investigations continue.
