Senegal Parade AFCON Trophy In France After Losing Title

Senegal have paraded the Africa Cup of Nations trophy at the Stade de France in Paris, even though the team have been stripped of their 2025 title. The event took place on Saturday before a friendly match against Peru, in front of thousands of Senegalese fans living in France. The Confederation of African Football had ruled earlier in March that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final after several players walked off the pitch in protest over a penalty decision against Morocco. CAF converted Senegal’s 1–0 extra time win into a 3–0 default victory for hosts Morocco and officially awarded them the trophy. Rohr backs CAS in AFCON title dispute

Benin head coach Gernot Rohr has thrown his support behind the Court of Arbitration for Sport as the best avenue to resolve the controversy over Senegal’s stripped AFCON title. Senegalese football fans have condemned the decision to strip their country of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco, calling the move a disgrace for Africa . Many supporters in Dakar said they were shocked to wake up to the news that the Confederation of African Football had overturned Senegal’s victory in the final played in Rabat on January 18 .
