El-Rufai arrives Federal High Court in Kaduna for bail ruling

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai has arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the ruling on his bail application in a fresh corruption case. Security was heightened around the court premises on Tuesday, with armed personnel deployed as Justice Rilwan Aikawa prepared to deliver the ruling. The court had earlier fixed Tuesday for the bail ruling after El-Rufai was arraigned on new charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Before heading to the Federal High Court, El-Rufai first appeared at the Kaduna State High Court at about 9 00 a.m., but proceedings there did not go as planned. Court jails ex acting AGF Nwabuoku eight years for N868m fraud

A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced former acting Accountant General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Nwabuoku, to eight years in prison after finding him guilty of N868 million money laundering charges.​ Justice James Omotosho ruled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission proved all nine counts against Nwabuoku beyond reasonable doubt, as required by law. EFCC Arraigns Ex Labour Minister Ngige Remanded In Kuje

Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, was on Friday arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission before an Abuja High Court sitting in Gwarinpa. He is facing allegations over a ₦2.2 billion contract fraud said to be connected to projects under the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund.​ The case was assigned to Justice Maryam Hassan, who took Ngige’s plea at the Friday sitting. Ex-FIFA Chief Blatter and Platini Cleared in Corruption Case

Former FIFA President Sepp Blatter and French soccer legend Michel Platini have been cleared of corruption charges by a Swiss court. The pair were accused of authorizing a 2 million Swiss franc payment to Platini in 2011. The court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prove the payment was fraudulent, acknowledging their consistent account of an oral agreement for the payment.The decision marks the end of a long-running legal battle, which began in 2015 and resulted in their suspension from football by FIFA. Both Blatter and Platini expressed relief following the verdict.
