Tensions Escalate in Bawku: Soldier Killed by Unknown Gunmen
A soldier has been killed by unidentified gunmen in Bawku, a volatile area in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The Warrant Officer Class Two was fatally shot on March 17, 2025, near a military buffer zone in one of the conflict hotspots in the town.This incident raises concerns about the safety of security personnel in the area, as Bawku has witnessed increasing attacks on law enforcement since violent conflict reignited in 2021.
