Maduro Thanks Supporters In First Message From US Prison
Ousted Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro has thanked his supporters in his first public message since being taken to the United States and jailed. The message was posted on his X account and was presented as coming from both Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who is detained with him. Maduro and Flores have been held for almost three months at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. They were captured in early January during a surprise US commando operation that seized them from their compound in Caracas and flew them to the United States to face drug trafficking related charges.
