Burnley boss Parker leaves club after Premier League relegation

Burnley head coach Scott Parker has left the club by mutual consent, just days after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed. The Clarets will return to the Championship next season after a poor campaign that saw them win only four of their first 34 league matches. Relegation was sealed with a 1 0 home defeat to Manchester City on April 22, Burnley’s 22nd loss of the season. The team collected just one point from their last eight league games, leaving them 19th in the table with 20 points. Preferred bidders quit Sheffield Wednesday takeover

Sheffield Wednesday’s future has been thrown into fresh doubt after the consortium named as preferred bidders to buy the troubled club pulled out of the deal.​ The group, led by professional poker player James Bord, had been funding the Championship side’s losses since being selected by administrators Begbies Traynor on December 24. National U-16 Championship to Honour Late Football Legend Sam Okwaraji

Thirty-six years after the tragic death of Nigerian football star Dr. Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji during a World Cup qualifier against Angola, a new nationwide tournament will keep his legacy alive and inspire young players. The Sam Okwaraji U-16 Soccer Championship, themed “Patriotism, Education & Soccer”, will begin on November 8, 2025, with the goal of discovering and nurturing grassroots football talent across the country. Announcing the event in Abuja, Senator Osita Izunaso, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Capital Market and head of the organising committee, hailed Okwaraji as “a symbol of patriotism, sacrifice, and national pride” who died wearing the national colours.
