Eagles to know 2027 AFCON qualifying foes Tuesday

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will on Tuesday know their opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers when the Confederation of African Football conducts the draw in Cairo, Egypt. The draw, scheduled for May 19, 2026, will take place at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association. El Rufai’s Mother’s Remains Arrive Abuja For Burial

The remains of Hajiya Umma, mother of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai, have arrived in Abuja for burial. She died on Friday in Cairo, Egypt, where she had been receiving medical treatment. Family sources said her body arrived in Abuja on Sunday morning ahead of funeral rites. According to the burial programme, the Janazah prayer is scheduled to hold at the National Mosque in the Central Area by 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest afterwards at Gudu Cemetery in the Apo area of the Federal Capital Territory. 3,000-year-old gold bracelet missing from Cairo’s Egyptian Museum

Egypt’s Antiquities Ministry has launched an investigation after a 3,000-year-old gold bracelet vanished from the restoration laboratory of Cairo’s Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. The missing artefact, described as a golden band inlaid with spherical lapis lazuli beads, dates back to the reign of Pharaoh Amenemope of the 21st Dynasty (1070–945 BC). The ministry confirmed the disappearance in a statement late Tuesday but did not specify when the piece was last seen.
