Burkina Faso frees detained Nigerian aircraft and 11 troops

The Federal Government has confirmed the release of the Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft and 11 soldiers who were detained in Burkina Faso after a forced landing. The confirmation came on Wednesday night from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, who said the aircraft and personnel had been released. The aircraft reportedly headed to the nearest suitable airfield to ensure the safety of the crew and passengers, in line with international aviation protocols. The Nigerian Air Force has also clarified in earlier statements that Burkina Faso did not ground the aircraft but received it after the precautionary landing.
