NDLEA nabs 80 year old ex convict, finds tramadol hidden in full body mannequins

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested an 80 year old ex convict, Jeremiah Isaiah Nkanta, for allegedly returning to the illicit drug trade barely three years after his last conviction. He was picked up at his home in Mmanta Abak village, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, where officers found 5.7 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis.​ Nkanta was first arrested by the NDLEA on December 14, 2022, prosecuted and sentenced to two years in prison for dealing in drugs. Businessman Excretes 127 Cocaine Wraps After Arrest in Kano – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at the Kano airport for allegedly ingesting 127 wraps of cocaine. The suspect, who runs boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, was intercepted upon his arrival from Bangkok, Thailand. A body scan revealed the presence of illicit substances, leading to the recovery of 58 wraps from his underwear. He subsequently excreted another 69 wraps over seven sessions, with the total cocaine weighing 1.388 kilograms. In related operations, the NDLEA intercepted multiple drug consignments at Lagos airports destined for the UK, Turkey, and other countries. The drugs were cleverly concealed in items like glass ceramics, vitamin containers, and black soap. Several other arrests were made across different states in connection with these seizures.

NDLEA Cross River commander Ogbonna Uzoma found dead in hotel

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its Cross River State Commander, Chief Narcotics Officer Ogbonna Uzoma, who was found lifeless in his hotel room in Calabar. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 18, 2025, barely one month after Uzoma assumed duty on August 18. NDLEA Busts Global Drug Cartel, Seizes ₦6.4bn Narcotics

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled an international drug cartel with networks across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates, arresting three kingpins and seizing narcotics worth over ₦6.4 billion. According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the two-week operation began on August 26 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, when officers intercepted 76 cartons of textile materials bound for Sydney, Australia. Hidden inside were 17.9kg of cocaine sewn into lace fabrics, alongside local charms allegedly meant to provide “spiritual cover” against detection. A freight agent, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, was arrested first.
