Impressive Team Nigeria secure three World Relays spots in Gaborone

Team Nigeria delivered an impressive performance at the Debswana World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana, securing three qualification spots for next year’s World Championships. With a largely home based squad, the athletes rose to the occasion and ensured Nigeria will be represented in multiple relay events on the global stage. Nigeria’s biggest highlight came in the mixed 4x400m relay, where the quartet of Samson Nathaniel, Taiwo Kudoro, Chidi Okezie and Patience Okon George ran a season’s best of 3:12.88 to finish second in their heat. Nigeria’s data protection model now draws Africa’s interest

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission says reforms launched since 2023 have turned the country into a reference point for data protection and privacy in Africa. Banks, schools, hospitals, insurers, telecoms firms and online platforms have been put under stricter oversight, with some sanctioned for data breaches. According to the NDPC, Nigeria’s consistent enforcement and regulatory clarity have attracted attention from across the continent. In the last two years, data regulators from at least eight African countries have visited to study the Nigerian framework with a view […]

Authorities reported acute shortages of medicines for conditions such as hypertension, cancer, diabetes, tuberculosis, asthma, mental health, and sexual health. Elective surgeries have also been postponed because of the crisis. In addition, the Health Ministry confirmed shortages of essential medical items including sutures and dressings. “The medical supply chain, as run by central medical stores, has failed,” President Boko said in a televised national address. “This failure has led to a severe disruption to health supplies […]
