Israel orders evacuations ahead of new strikes in south Lebanon
Israel has issued evacuation calls to residents in parts of southern Lebanon as its military prepares new airstrikes on areas it says are being used by Hezbollah. The Israeli army’s Arabic spokesperson posted maps and messages on X, warning people in specific buildings and neighbourhoods in towns including Deir Kifa, Chehour and other nearby communities to leave immediately and stay at least 500 metres away from the marked locations. Shortly after the warnings, Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on what the military described as Hezbollah “terror infrastructure” and sites linked to the group’s efforts to rebuild its presence near the border.
