Questions trail NAF aircraft’s onward flight to Portugal

Fresh questions have emerged over the onward journey of the Nigerian Air Force C 130 aircraft that made an emergency landing in Burkina Faso while heading to Portugal for maintenance. Although officials earlier said the plane and its 11 man crew had been cleared to continue their mission, there is still no clear public confirmation on when it actually departed Bobo Dioulasso for Europe.​ The aircraft was on a ferry mission to Portugal on 8 December when the crew detected a technical fault after takeoff from Lagos and carried out a precautionary landing in Bobo Dioulasso, in line with international aviation safety procedures. Nigeria Sahel allies clash over detained military plane and soldiers

Nigeria and the Alliance of Sahel States are giving sharply different accounts of how a Nigerian Air Force C 130 transport plane and 11 soldiers ended up detained in Burkina Faso. The aircraft made an emergency landing in Bobo Dioulasso on Monday, but the incident has now triggered a wider diplomatic dispute over alleged airspace violations.​ The Alliance of Sahel States which includes Burkina Faso Mali and Niger insists the Nigerian plane entered its airspace without permission and was forced to land. Nigerian military plane grounded in Burkina Faso over airspace row

A Nigerian Air Force C 130 transport plane carrying 11 soldiers has been grounded in Burkina Faso over an alleged violation of the country’s airspace. The aircraft was forced to land in the southwestern city of Bobo Dioulasso after what officials described as an in flight emergency while transiting Burkinabe airspace.​ According to a statement from the Confederation of Sahel States known as AES the plane had two crew members and nine passengers all of them Nigerian military personnel.
