Rohr backs CAS in AFCON title dispute
Benin head coach Gernot Rohr has thrown his support behind the Court of Arbitration for Sport as the best avenue to resolve the controversy over Senegal’s stripped AFCON title. He was reacting to the Confederation of African Football’s decision to take the trophy from Senegal and award it to Morocco two months after the final. Speaking ahead of Benin’s international matches in Morocco, Rohr described the ruling as unbelievable and said it ignores the human side of football. He noted that players who had already celebrated as champions were later told they were no longer winners, calling the situation inhuman and damaging to the spirit of the game.
