Bandits attack Zamfara mosque, kill five, abduct worshippers

At least five worshippers were killed and several others abducted on Friday morning when armed bandits attacked a mosque in Yandoto village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, during early morning prayers. Residents said the gunmen stormed the mosque around dawn and opened fire indiscriminately, killing five people instantly and injuring many others. “They came while we were praying and just started shooting,” one witness recounted. The attackers reportedly abducted an unspecified number of worshippers before retreating into the surrounding forests. When contacted, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said he had not yet received a briefing from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area. Troops neutralise 2 terrorists, arrest 32, rescue 13 kidnap victims – Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has neutralised two terrorists, arrested 32 suspects and rescued 13 kidnapped victims during major counter-insurgency and anti-crime operations conducted within the last 24 hours across multiple regions of the country. DSS Arraigns Nine Over Killings in Benue, Plateau

The Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday arraigned nine suspects before the Federal High Court in Abuja over their alleged roles in recent killings and violence in Benue and Plateau States. Among them are Haruna Adamu and Muhammad Abdullahi, both from Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. They face a four-count charge linked to attacks in Abinsi and Yelewata villages in Benue’s Guma LGA, allegedly committed on June 13, 2025, in collaboration with others still at large. PDP Govs Slam ADC Over Zamfara Meeting Criticism

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has defended its recent meeting in Zamfara State, accusing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of politicising insecurity instead of showing empathy to victims of bandit attacks. The ADC had criticised the PDP for holding a political meeting in Zamfara, only days after dozens of residents were killed by bandits. Banditry: Death Toll Hits 50 in Katsina Attacks

The death toll from bandit attacks in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State has risen to 50, according to the lawmaker representing the constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon.
