Nicki Minaj Tells UN: Christians in Nigeria Driven From Homes, Killed

American rapper Nicki Minaj spoke at a United Nations event, claiming Christians in Nigeria are being forced from their homes and killed, echoing recent warnings by former US President Donald Trump. Minaj called attention to burned churches, shattered families, and communities suffering from religious violence. She emphasized that her message was meant to spotlight victims, not to divide, saying, “This is not about taking sides or dividing people, but uniting humanity and standing against injustice.” Minaj also thanked Trump for his leadership on the issue and praised Nigeria’s deep faith traditions and her local fanbase. Trump recently threatened military action, calling Nigeria a “country of particular concern” and referencing attacks by armed groups on Christian villages. The Nigerian presidency rejected the claims, stating violence affects all groups and is primarily driven by land, resource disputes, and criminal gangs. Security analysts […]

EU Lawmaker Alleges Christian Genocide in Nigeria, Govt Denies

A European Parliament member, Dominik Tarczyński, has raised a global alarm, alleging a genocide of Christians is taking place in Nigeria. The Polish lawmaker posted a graphic of a blood-stained Nigerian flag on social media, along with a video of a Nigerian pastor pleading for international intervention. In the video, the pastor claims that Christians are being systematically killed and calls on former US President Donald Trump for help. This accusation has been strongly denied by the Nigerian government. The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, has previously labeled such claims as "false, baseless, and divisive." The government maintains that the country's security challenges, which include banditry and terrorism, are complex and not a targeted campaign against any single religious group. It warns that such allegations oversimplify the situation and risk fueling dangerous divisions within the country.

US Genocide Debate Tied to FG’s Failure on Insecurity – Hashim

Former presidential candidate and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dr. Gbenga Hashim, has criticised the federal government for what he described as its “shamefully political and dangerously unserious” handling of Nigeria’s worsening insecurity. In a statement released over the weekend, Hashim accused the government of prioritising propaganda and political maneuvering over genuine efforts to protect citizens from terrorists and bandits. “This government treats the blood of innocent Nigerians like a campaign statistic,” he said. “Instead of confronting terrorists and bandits, they issue empty statements and blame imaginary enemies. Governance is not propaganda.” Hashim alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was more focused on gaining political advantage ahead of the 2027 elections than securing the country. “Rather than uniting the nation, the APC is pitching the South against the North,” he added. He linked the recent move by the […]

Aston Villa secure first Europa League win, Rangers suffer fresh setback

Aston Villa finally found relief from their poor start to the season with a 1-0 victory over Bologna to launch their Europa League campaign on Thursday, while Rangers boss Russell Martin came under growing pressure after a damaging home defeat to Genk. Despite going winless in their first five Premier League fixtures, Villa were tipped among the Europa League favourites, thanks to their strong European run last season and manager Unai Emery’s pedigree as a four-time winner of the competition. Villa captain John McGinn struck in the 13th minute, drilling a low shot into the corner to secure all three points against the Coppa Italia holders. However, doubts around the squad’s form persist. Ollie Watkins, still without a goal this season, missed a penalty after coming off the bench, his weak effort easily saved by goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski. Bologna came […]
