FG files treason terrorism charges against ex minister Sylva and others

The Federal Government has filed a 13 count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva and six others over an alleged plot to wage war against Nigeria and commit acts of terrorism. Those charged alongside Sylva are retired Major General Mohammed Ibrahim Gana, retired Navy Captain Erasmus Victor, serving police inspector Ahmed Ibrahim, Zekeri Umoru, Bukar Goni and Abdulkadir Sani. They are expected to be arraigned on Wednesday before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. Court documents describe Sylva as being at large. Court adjourns Tukur Mamu’s fundamental rights suit against AGF

Justice Mohammed Umar fixed the new date for adoption of final written addresses after asking counsel to further address the court on the relationship between Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution and Section 49 of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022. The matter had earlier come up for adoption of written addresses but could not proceed. Mamu, through his lawyer Johnson Usman (SAN), argues that the AGF’s decision to label him a terrorist in official and media communications violates his right to presumption of innocence under Section 36(5) of the Constitution. Senator Natasha breaks silence on FG’s withdrawal of criminal charges

Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan has reacted to the Federal Government’s decision to withdraw the criminal charges earlier filed against her over alleged defamation and cyber related offences. The Kogi Central lawmaker said the move vindicates her long standing claims that the case was politically motivated and aimed at silencing her.​ Court documents show that the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation filed a notice of discontinuance on December 12, 2025, effectively ending the case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/195/2025 at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
