La Liga gets five spots for next season’s Champions League

La Liga will have five clubs in next season’s UEFA Champions League after Spain secured one of the two extra European Performance Spots awarded by UEFA. The bonus place comes as a reward for the strong collective performances of Spanish teams across the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League this term. Under UEFA’s revamped 36 team league phase format, the top two associations in the season’s club coefficient rankings each receive an additional Champions League berth. UCL: Lookman’s strike seals Atlético semi-final spot over Barcelona

Nigeria international Ademola Lookman scored the decisive goal that sent Atlético Madrid into the UEFA Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Barcelona.
