Gunmen attack Delta APC congress, Ibori Suenu escapes alleged assassination

Gunmen stormed an All Progressives Congress ward congress in Delta State on Saturday, forcing House of Representatives member Erhiatake Ibori Suenu to be whisked away by security operatives in what her camp described as an assassination attempt. The attack happened during the exercise in Ughelli, throwing the venue into confusion.​ Witnesses said the assailants arrived suddenly and began shooting, causing delegates, party officials and supporters to run in different directions. US never targeted me in Sokoto airstrikes, says Gumi

Kaduna based Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has dismissed reports that he was targeted by the United States during recent joint Nigeria US airstrikes on terrorist camps in Sokoto State. He described the claims as fake news, explaining that people had misinterpreted an old video in which he spoke about threats to his life more than a decade ago.​ Gumi said the viral clip being shared online referred to an incident in August 2012, when he was allegedly marked for assassination by Boko Haram near his residence. Pope John Paul II attacker removed from Turkish town

Turkish authorities have removed Mehmet Ali Agca, the man who tried to assassinate Pope John Paul II in 1981, from the town of Iznik ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s visit. Local media reported that Agca had travelled to the northwestern town hoping to briefly meet the new pope during his historic trip.​ Agca, a Turkish national, shot and seriously wounded John Paul II in St Peter’s Square in May 1981 and later received a life sentence in Italy before being transferred to Ankara to complete his term. Alleged Assassination Attempt on Yerima: Military Deploys Personnel, 8 Patrol Vehicles to Gado Nasko Road

Fresh reports indicate the military has deployed personnel and eight patrol vehicles to Gado Nasko Road in Kubwa, Abuja, following an alleged attempt on the life of Lieutenant A.M. Yerima. Around 7 p.m. on Sunday, eight military vehicles were seen patrolling the area after sources claimed unidentified men in two unmarked white Hilux vans had trailed the officer from NIPCO Station off the Kubwa Expressway to Gado Nasko Road.
