Fresh reports indicate the military has deployed personnel and eight patrol vehicles to Gado Nasko Road in Kubwa, Abuja, following an alleged attempt on the life of Lieutenant A.M. Yerima. Around 7 p.m. on Sunday, eight military vehicles were seen patrolling the area after sources claimed unidentified men in two unmarked white Hilux vans had trailed the officer from NIPCO Station off the Kubwa Expressway to Gado Nasko Road. The immediate security response was activated amid safety concerns.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has denied receiving any reports regarding a possible assassination attempt or trailing of the officer. Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh stated that no such cases have been reported or recorded within the FCT, urging the public to ignore unfounded reports and avoid spreading unconfirmed information that could cause panic.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and quickly report suspicious activity to the nearest police station. Meanwhile, military sources confirm ongoing investigations into the reported incident.

A Federal High Court has rejected a fresh attempt by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to stop airtime lending services run through major telecom networks. The ruling preserves an earlier interim injunction that protects airtime and data credit providers while a substantive suit on new lending rules is being heard. The case centres on the FCCPC’s 2025 Digital, Electronic, Online or Non Traditional Consumer Lending Regulations, which the commission wants to fully enforce across digital lenders, including Airtime Credit Service providers. Industry group Wireless Application Service Providers Association of Nigeria argues that the rules place heavy and conflicting burdens on telecom based lending services already regulated by the Nigerian Communications Commission.
