Bawku factions sign peace pact in Ashanti Region

Indigenes of Bawku living in the Ashanti Region have signed a peace pact aimed at preventing the long-standing Kusaasi–Mamprusi conflict from spreading into Kumasi. The development comes in the wake of violent clashes in Asawase and Asokore Mampong that claimed two lives, including that of a local chief, sparking fears that the Bawku conflict could inflame further unrest in the Ashanti capital.
