Few companies have shaped everyday technology as profoundly as Apple. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the company has grown from a small garage startup founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak into one of the most influential brands in the world. Today, Apple products are used by billions globally. Analysts say this success is driven not only by innovation but also by branding. The company positioned its devices as lifestyle products, creating an emotional connection with users. While Apple continues to thrive under CEO Tim Cook, some observers believe the pace of groundbreaking innovation has slowed since the death of Steve Jobs. Instead, the company has focused more on refining its existing product ecosystem. Major successes One of Apple’s earliest breakthroughs was the iPod, launched in 2001. Apple Removes ICE Tracking Apps from App Store

Apple has removed several mobile applications used to track U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from its App Store. The move came on Thursday following reported pressure from the Trump administration. The apps, which allowed users to anonymously report the locations of ICE officers, had grown in popularity amid the administration's intensified deportation efforts. Officials argued that the apps endangered law enforcement lives, citing a recent deadly shooting at an ICE facility in Texas where the gunman was alleged to have used such a tool. Apple confirmed the removal in a statement, saying it acted "based on information we've received from law enforcement about the safety risks." The Attorney General's office stated it had demanded the removal of the popular "ICEBlock" app, and Apple complied. The company did not provide further comment on the decision, which highlights the ongoing […]

Apple commits to $500bn US investment

Apple plans to invest more than $500bn (£396bn) in the US over the next four years, starting with a new advanced manufacturing factory in Texas. The tech giant said it expected to create 20,000 new jobs over that time, with the "vast majority" of roles in research and development, software and artificial intelligence (AI). It is not clear to what extent the spending is an acceleration of the company's current activities. Apple said the sum included everything from spending on suppliers to Apple TV+ productions. The announcement comes days after Apple boss Tim Cook met with President Donald Trump, who has made increased corporate investment in the US a priority. In its announcement, Apple said its investment was its "largest-ever spend commitment" and would expand its support for American manufacturing. "We are bullish on the future of American innovation," Cook said. […]

Apple’s Dictation System Transcribes the Word ‘Racist’ as ‘Trump’

While using Apple’s automatic dictation feature to send messages on Tuesday, some iPhone users reported seeing a peculiar bug: the word “racist” temporarily appearing as “Trump,” before quickly correcting itself. The message blip, which was replicated several times by The New York Times, provoked controversy after appearing in a viral TikTok post, raising questions about Apple’s artificial intelligence capabilities. An Apple spokeswoman blamed the issue on phonetic overlap between the two words, and said the company was working on a fix. The issue appeared to begin after an update to Apple’s servers, said John Burkey, the founder of Wonderrush.ai, an artificial intelligence start-up, and a former member of Apple’s Siri team who is still in regular contact with the team. But he said that it was unlikely that the data that Apple has collected for its artificial intelligence offerings was causing the […]
