Court Vacates Arrest Warrant Against PDP Factional Chairman Kabiru Turaki

An Abuja High Court has vacated the bench warrant it earlier issued for the arrest of factional Peoples Democratic Party national chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN). The bench warrant had been granted after Turaki failed to appear for arraignment on a one count charge of allegedly giving false information to the police. The charge stems from a petition he wrote in 2022 as a private citizen, accusing certain persons of wrongdoing. I’ve Activated Strategy to Secure Nnamdi Kanu’s Release — Gov Otti

Abia State Governor Alex Otti announced he has set into motion a strategy to secure the release of convicted Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu. Otti shared that he previously initiated efforts during Kanu’s trial and remains in active communication with “the highest authorities” on political options for Kanu’s freedom. The governor, speaking through his media aide, emphasized dialogue, collaboration with other well-meaning Nigerians, and a peaceful approach. Otti cautioned politicians against exploiting Kanu’s case for personal gain, saying the matter demands compassion and courage from the federal government to resolve permanently. He acknowledged the immense hurt caused by Kanu’s detention in Abia and the wider South-East, recalling his consistent position against violent responses and calling for a return to diplomatic, non-violent problem-solving.

With this latest decision, Bolsonaro’s legal team has only five days to file a final appeal, which can be swiftly quashed by lead judge Alexandre de Moraes. Once the final judgment is published—expected as early as next week—a warrant for Bolsonaro’s arrest will likely be issued the same day. The sentence, already reduced for age, was based on Bolsonaro’s role in instigating a violent […]
