Baba Ahmed says Tinubu is disconnected from Nigerians’ hardship

Hakeem Baba Ahmed, former Special Adviser on political matters to Vice President Kashim Shettima, says President Bola Tinubu is disconnected from the hardship many Nigerians are facing. Speaking on The Morning Show, he faulted Tinubu’s recent remarks suggesting that those who do not see progress under his administration are biased or unable to recognise development. The president had joked that critics who cannot see hope in his policies may need “jigi bola” eyeglasses. Baba Ahmed said such comments raise serious questions about how aware the government is of current economic and security realities. He argued that no leader living in Nigeria and seeing the level of poverty and lack of accountability should expect citizens to applaud their performance. The national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party insisted that the administration’s reforms have not translated into better living conditions. According to […]

Reacting to a viral slogan and taunt that he would serve just “falle daya” (one term), Yusuf said the chant was only correct in relation to his stay in NNPP. “It is one term in NNPP, but we will do the second term in APC,” he said in Hausa, drawing cheers from his supporters. The governor insisted that no opposition party, including the African Democratic Congress, would be able to take Kano from him and the APC in the 2027 elections. He spoke in Abuja as the former Kano State governor was formally received into the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. Mark said Kwankwaso’s move was more than a simple change of platform. He framed it as a deliberate response to Nigerians’ calls for a cohesive opposition capable of safeguarding democratic values and providing a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress. The former Senate President accused the APC of posing the greatest threat to multiparty democracy in Nigeria. He warned that attempts to weaken opposition parties, shrink political space and concentrate power in one party were dangerous for the country’s future. According to Mark, the ADC is positioning itself as a rallying […]

2027 polls: APC, four parties set as 16 others battle candidate crises

The situation follows the release of the 2027 election timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which has intensified pressure on parties to put their houses in order. A few smaller parties, including some with regional strength, have also begun early consultations and are close to resolving their presidential and governorship choices. In contrast, major opposition platforms like the […]
