Soludo Raises Concern Over Vote Buying in Anambra Election

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has decried incidents of vote buying during the ongoing governorship election, especially in Nnewi South Local Government Area. Soludo spoke to reporters after voting at his polling unit in Aguata, noting that while the election was generally peaceful and well-organized, there were serious concerns about voter inducement. He said the only major issue so far has been reports that some voters in Nnewi South were paid as much as N15,000 to sway their votes. Over 2.8 Million Voters Participate in Anambra Election

The Anambra State governorship election saw over 2.8 million registered voters going to the polls to choose the next governor. The election featured 16 candidates, including the current governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, and Sir Paul Chukwuma among others. The election took place across 5,718 polling units with more than 24,000 ad hoc staff deployed and 6,879 BVAS devices for accreditation.
