Champions League: Atletico sweat on Lookman ahead of Arsenal showdown

Atletico Madrid are facing an anxious wait over the fitness of Ademola Lookman ahead of their UEFA Champions League semi final first leg against Arsenal after the Super Eagles forward was ruled out of Wednesday’s La Liga clash with Elche. The club’s medical department confirmed that Lookman and strike partner Alexander Sorloth finished Saturday’s Copa del Rey final defeat to Real Sociedad with discomfort and have now been placed on individual training programmes away from the main squad. Atletico Madrid took control of their UEFA Champions League quarter final tie with a 2 0 away win over 10 man Barcelona in the first leg at the Olympic Stadium. Ademola Lookman came off the bench to provide a key assist as Atletico Madrid beat Club Brugge to reach the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
