Sowore condemns US airstrikes on Nigerian soil

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has strongly criticised the recent United States military strikes on Nigerian soil. He described the attacks as a violation of Nigeria’s sovereignty and a dangerous step for the country. Sowore argued that no foreign country has the right to launch military operations inside Nigeria under any guise. He said allowing such actions sends a signal that Nigeria cannot protect itself and is willing to hand over its security to external powers. He also faulted the Nigerian government for what he called weakness and complicity. According to him, the authorities should have openly rejected the US airstrikes instead of agreeing to or tolerating them. Sowore warned that foreign military involvement rarely solves internal security problems. He pointed to past US interventions in countries like Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan, saying they often left […]

US strikes major ISIL targets in Syria

President Donald Trump says the United States has launched large-scale strikes on ISIL targets in Syria, one week after an attack in Palmyra killed two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter. He said he ordered the operation to punish those responsible and described it as a precise and very successful mission. Trump explained in a speech in North Carolina and in posts on Truth Social that the aim was to send a clear message that attacks on US personnel would bring strong retaliation. He said US forces hit every intended location and claimed the operation would help restore peace through strength. The strikes targeted ISIL fighters, facilities, and weapons depots across central and northeastern Syria under an operation called Hawkeye Strike. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the action was a declaration of vengeance rather than the start of a […]

Israeli airstrikes hit targets across Lebanon

Israel has launched a new wave of strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, hitting several locations that the Israeli military says are linked to Hezbollah. Lebanon’s state run National News Agency reported multiple strikes on mountainous areas in both regions. The Israeli military said its forces targeted what it described as “terror infrastructure sites” in different parts of Lebanon. It said the targets included “a military compound used by Hezbollah to conduct training and courses” for members of the Iran backed group. In a separate statement, the army said its forces “a short while ago” struck a Hezbollah fighter in the Taybeh area of southern Lebanon. Iran’s Khamenei Mocks Trump’s Claim of Destroying Nuclear Sites

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has publicly mocked US President Donald Trump over his claims that American strikes "obliterated" Iran's nuclear facilities. In a statement, Khamenei told Trump to "keep dreaming" and condemned his comments as "improper, wrong, and bullying." This comes after Trump stated in a recent speech that US bombs had destroyed Iran's nuclear capability. The exchange refers to a series of airstrikes by Israel and the US on Iranian nuclear sites in June. While Trump has boasted about the operation's success, the actual damage is unclear. US intelligence reports suggest the strikes only delayed Iran's nuclear program by a few months to two years, not destroyed it. The military action has derailed nuclear negotiations between the two countries. Iran has stated it will only return to talks if the US provides guarantees against further military strikes.
