Troops kill over 23 bandits in Kano–Katsina joint operation
Troops under Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised more than 23 bandits in a coordinated onslaught spanning Kano and Katsina states at the start of the new year.The operation followed attempted attacks on communities in Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas of Kano, where Joint Task Force troops repelled the assailants and pursued them as they fled toward Katsina. According to a statement from 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, the fleeing bandits regrouped around Karaduwa and Dan Marke areas of Matazu LGA in Katsina, where they were tracked by air assets and later hit with precision airstrikes that inflicted heavy casualties and destroyed weapons and equipment.Security sources say earlier phases of the wider joint operation had already accounted for scores of bandits and the recovery of dozens of rustled cattle in border communities between the two states.
