NNPP distances itself from Kwankwaso over judges’ visit claim
The New Nigeria People’s Party has distanced itself from former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso over his claim that he took Governor Abba Yusuf to meet some Supreme Court judges in 2019. In a statement by its National Secretary, Oginni Olaposi Sunday, the party said Kwankwaso was not a member of the NNPP at the time the alleged visit took place. It described reports linking the party to the allegation as misleading and asked the Nigerian Bar Association to remove NNPP’s name from any related petition to the Inspector General of Police. The party explained that Kwankwaso only joined the NNPP a few months before the 2023 general elections, alongside Buba Galadima, Prof Rufai Alkali, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, Prof Hanga and Abba Yusuf.
