Nigerian athletes storm Ghana for African Athletics Championships

A strong contingent of Nigerian athletes has arrived in Accra, Ghana, ahead of the 24th Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Senior Athletics Championships, scheduled for May 12 to 17 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) named a 45-athlete squad for the championships, comprising 25 women and 20 men across track and field events. World record holder Tobi Amusan headlines the women’s team and will spearhead Nigeria’s charge in the 100m hurdles, supported by Adaobi Tabugbo and Janet Sunday. Sprint star Rosemary Chukwuma leads the 100m and 4x100m relay line-up, as Nigeria targets dominance in the women’s short sprints and relays.
