Oyo orders traders, drivers back to Iwo Road bus terminal

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority has ordered traders and commercial drivers operating along major roads around Iwo Road in Ibadan to vacate the roadside and return to the Iwo Road Bus Terminal. The agency said the directive is aimed at restoring order, easing traffic congestion and improving environmental cleanliness in the area. OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adekoya Adesagba (rtd), gave the order during an enforcement and inspection visit to the terminal on Wednesday. He said the authority received reports that many motorists and traders had abandoned the government built facility and moved back to the roadside, causing renewed traffic problems. Adesagba warned that roadside trading and loading can lead to severe traffic gridlock and accidents.
