NUPENG Brands Oshiomhole ‘Judas Iscariot’ of Workers
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has launched a scathing attack on Senator Adams Oshiomhole, calling him the "Judas Iscariot of Nigerian trade unionism." The union's strong condemnation follows Oshiomhole's comments criticizing a strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) at the Dangote Refinery. NUPENG accused the former labour leader of betraying the working class and defending "corporate oppression." In a lengthy statement, NUPENG asserted that Oshiomhole's stance against the workers' right to unionize is a "reprehensible attack" on fundamental rights and a distortion of labour laws.
