Army denies shooting women protesters in Adamawa

The Nigerian Army’s 23 Brigade in Adamawa State has denied reports that its troops opened fire on women protesting a communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area. The allegation had circulated on social media and in some online reports claiming soldiers escorting the Brigade Commander shot and killed several women.​ In an official statement, the Brigade described the claims as baseless and misleading. It said neither the Brigade Commander nor his escorts were present at the scene where the women were allegedly shot.​ According to the Army, troops from 23 Brigade, working with police and other security agencies, were deployed to Lamurde in response to a communal clash between Bachama and Chobo communities.  Nigerian Troops Kill 17 Terrorists, Arrest 85, Rescue 10 Hostages

The Nigerian Army has announced significant gains in its nationwide operations, neutralizing 17 terrorists and rescuing 10 kidnap victims in the last 48 hours. According to a military source, the coordinated operations also led to the arrest of 85 suspects. Those apprehended include Boko Haram informants, logistics suppliers, and kidnappers. In the North East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai engaged terrorists in Borno and Adamawa states. They successfully repelled ambushes and arrested a key informant who was tracked through his phone calls and bank transactions. The operations also led to the interception of a large shipment of 368 bags of cement and other supplies suspected to be destined for terrorist camps. NiMet Forecasts 3 Days of Rain, Thunderstorms Nationwide

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of rainfall and thunderstorms across most parts of the country beginning Monday, September 22. According to NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday, isolated thunderstorms and light rains are expected in parts of the northern states, including Adamawa and Taraba, during Monday morning, with similar conditions later in the day across Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Zamfara, Bauchi, Southern Borno, and Taraba. Central Region The central region, including Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Plateau, Kogi, and Benue, will experience cloudy conditions with sunshine intervals. ICRC: Over 23,000 People Still Missing in Nigeria

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says more than 23,659 people remain missing in Nigeria, leaving at least 13,595 families in distress, most of them women bearing the weight of uncertainty and hardship. This was disclosed on Sunday by Ishaku Luka, Protection of Family Links Team Leader of the ICRC in Damaturu, during activities to mark the International Day of the Disappeared. According to Luka, 68 per cent of those still searching for answers are women, while 59 per cent of the missing were minors at the time of their disappearance.
