Zelenskyy pushes Trump for longer US security guarantee
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants a long term US security guarantee, including foreign troops on Ukrainian soil, after his talks with US president Donald Trump in Florida. He said such troops would provide real protection and give any deal real weight. Zelenskyy revealed that he asked for a 50 year security guarantee from Washington, but Trump offered 15 years in the current draft. The documents now outline a 15 year term with an option to extend, and Zelenskyy is urging the US to lengthen it to 30, 40 or even 50 years. He said he hopes Trump will take what he called a historic decision by agreeing to a longer guarantee. According to Zelenskyy, Trump has promised that the US will consider the request.
