₦75,000 COVID Grant Rumour Causes Stir in Jigawa
False rumours about a ₦75,000 COVID-19 grant have caused widespread confusion and excitement across Jigawa State, as residents scrambled to verify claims that the federal government was disbursing the amount to beneficiaries in the state. The rumour appears to have emerged from confusion over earlier government interventions, including the Jigawa State Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (J-Cares) Program, under which over 4,200 youth and women entrepreneurs received ₦212 million in grants.
