Atletico Madrid unhappy with NFF over Lookman’s workload

Atletico Madrid are reportedly unhappy with the Nigeria Football Federation over the heavy workload given to winger Ademola Lookman during the recent international break. The Spanish club is concerned that the forward played the full 180 minutes across Nigeria’s two friendly matches against Iran and Jordan. Reports from Spanish outlet AS say Atletico had been carefully managing Lookman’s minutes since his move to the club, with coach Diego Simeone rarely allowing him to complete full games in La Liga, the Copa del Rey or the UEFA Champions League. In most starts, the most he has played for Atletico is around 73 minutes. However, during the Super Eagles’ friendlies, Lookman played 89 minutes in the 2 1 win over Iran and then completed the entire 2 2 draw against Jordan in Antalya, Turkey. Atletico view this as excessive, especially as the […]

The race for the 2025 26 Nigeria Premier Football League Golden Boot has intensified, with six strikers now locked in a tight battle as the season enters its final stretch. With only a handful of games left, every goal could decide who finishes as the league’s top scorer. Leading the chase are Rangers International striker Godwin Obaje and Ikorodu City winger Joseph Arumala, who have both scored 11 league goals so far. Obaje has been the focal point of Rangers’ attack, while Arumala’s pace and finishing have driven Ikorodu City’s push up the table. Just behind them is a group of four players on 10 goals each: Remo Stars forward Victor Mbaoma, El Kanemi Warriors midfielder Daddy Abdulrahman, Katsina United striker Uche Collins and Abia Warriors forward Emeka Obioma. In the heart of Rome, frustration is growing among football fans after Italy’s latest setback on the international stage. The great era of Italian football is over.” On Tuesday evening in Zenica, the Italy national football team missed out on World Cup qualification for the third time in a row. They were defeated 4-1 on penalties by Bosnia and Herzegovina after playing much of the match with ten men. Manchester United Legend Nicky Butt Wants Osimhen At Old Trafford

Manchester United legend Nicky Butt has called on the club’s hierarchy to make a summer move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. Butt believes the Galatasaray forward is the kind of powerful, complete number nine United need to lead the line at Old Trafford. Speaking in recent interviews, the former midfielder argued that while current striker Benjamin Sesko has potential, he is not yet ready to carry the team’s attack on his own. He described Osimhen as quick, strong and aggressive, with the ability to run in behind, hold up play and score different types of goals, including headers. Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray from Napoli in a record deal last summer, has continued his prolific form in Turkey with 19 goals in 29 appearances this season. Butt said players from the Turkish Super Lig are generally “gettable” in the transfer market […]

International Friendly: Jordan Deny Eagles With Late Equaliser

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were denied back to back friendly wins after being held to a 2–2 draw by Jordan in Antalya, Turkey. Nigeria came from behind to lead 2–1, but a late equaliser from substitute Mohammad Al Daoud ensured the game ended all square. Jordan drew first blood in the 17th minute through Mousa Al Tamari, who finished off a well worked move to beat the Nigerian defence. Nigeria responded before the half hour mark when captain on the night Moses Simon drilled home to restore parity. Debutant Emmanuel Fernandez then gave the Eagles the lead shortly before halftime, arriving unmarked at the back post to slot in Nigeria’s second. The West Africans looked in control for large spells and created chances to extend their advantage but failed to convert. Jordan stayed in the contest and were rewarded […]
