Russia launched a new wave of ballistic missile attacks on several Ukrainian cities overnight, leaving at least four people dead and 36 others injured, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The northeastern city of Kharkiv suffered the heaviest casualties, with three people killed and 20 injured after missiles struck a postal terminal in the city’s outskirts. Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said the victims were men aged between 24 and 62, while three of the injured remain in critical condition.
In the capital, Kyiv, one person was killed and 16 others were wounded as multiple explosions were reported across the city. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the assault as one of the largest ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia fired 41 missiles during the overnight assault, including Iskander ballistic missiles and Zircon hypersonic missiles, alongside 125 drones. Air defence systems intercepted 18 missiles and destroyed 108 drones before they reached their targets.
Several residential and commercial buildings were damaged in Kyiv, including a supermarket, student accommodation and warehouses. Emergency crews worked to contain fires at multiple locations, while two people were reported injured at a logistics hub in the Bucha district.
At the same time, Ukraine continued its long-range attacks on Russian military and energy infrastructure. President Zelensky said Ukrainian forces struck three oil storage facilities in Russia’s Stavropol region and hit three oil tankers linked to Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” in the Black Sea.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium confirmed that its export terminal near Novorossiysk was affected by the attacks, with two tankers damaged. Oil loading operations were temporarily suspended, although officials said there were no injuries or oil spills.
Authorities in Russia’s Stavropol region also reported a fire at an industrial park following a Ukrainian drone attack.
The latest escalation follows recent Ukrainian strikes on warehouses belonging to Russian online retailer Wildberries, which caused significant damage and casualties. Kyiv says its attacks are aimed at disrupting Russia’s military logistics and energy sector, which it argues help finance the ongoing war.
President Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s call for additional air defence systems from its international partners, stressing that ballistic missile interceptors remain one of the country’s most urgent military needs as Russian attacks continue.

Depuis le 20 juillet 2026, un atelier national se tient à Lomé afin d'évaluer la prise en compte des questions de genre dans les politiques publiques et les budgets sectoriels. Le Togo accélère sa coopération gazière régionale
Le Togo poursuit ses efforts pour sécuriser son approvisionnement en gaz naturel en renforçant sa coopération avec le Bénin et la Côte d'Ivoire.
