Patrick Bruel Denies Misconduct Allegations

Article arrow_drop_down

French singer and actor Patrick Bruel is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently attracted major attention in France. The 67-year-old artist strongly denies all accusations and says he has never used his fame to force or manipulate anyone into non-consensual relationships.

One of the most high-profile accusations comes from television presenter Flavie Flament. She claims that Bruel sexually assaulted her in 1991 when she was 16 years old. In an interview published by Mediapart, Flament said she lost consciousness after drinking tea at the singer’s Paris apartment and later believed she had been drugged and raped.

Patrick Bruel responded publicly through Instagram, stating that he has “never forced himself on a woman” and has never drugged or manipulated anyone. His lawyer, Christophe Ingrain, also rejected the allegations, arguing that any relationship between the two at the time was consensual.

Flament firmly denied that claim, insisting that she never had any relationship with the singer and maintaining her accusations against him.

French media reports indicate that around 30 women have accused Bruel of inappropriate behavior or sexual misconduct. About 10 of those cases are currently being reviewed by judicial authorities in France, including in Nanterre and Brittany, as well as in Belgium.

The French government has encouraged alleged victims to speak out, even many years after the events. Government spokeswoman Maud Bregeon said it is now up to the justice system to determine the truth.

Patrick Bruel, who became one of France’s biggest music stars in the 1980s, remains a major public figure. Despite the controversy, his upcoming concert tour across France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada is still scheduled to continue, although an online petition is calling for it to be cancelled.

FIFA Clears Balogun to Face Belgium

The decision to overturn the suspension of United States forward Folarin Balogun has sparked debate after FIFA confirmed he will be available for his country's Round of 16 clash against Belgium at the FIFA World Cup. Balogun had been sent off during the United States' victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Round of 32, a dismissal that would normally result in an automatic one-match suspension. However, FIFA's disciplinary committee reversed the sanction, allowing the striker to return immediately. The ruling is considered highly unusual. Throughout World Cup history, players who receive red cards have almost always served the mandatory suspension. Of the 189 red cards recorded in the tournament's history, only two players have avoided missing the following match. The first instance dates back to the 1962 World Cup, when Brazil's Garrincha was dismissed in the semi-final against Chile but was […]

Israel names first resident ambassador to Slovenia

Israel has appointed Ruth Cohen‑Dar as its first resident ambassador to Slovenia following the decision to open an embassy in Ljubljana. The move ends a long period in which Israel managed relations with Slovenia through a non‑resident envoy based elsewhere. The appointment was approved unanimously by Israel’s cabinet and reflects a warming of diplomatic ties after last year’s change of government in Slovenia. Relations had cooled under the previous Slovenian administration, but improved after a new government took office and signaled closer cooperation. Ruth Cohen‑Dar previously served as Israel’s non‑resident ambassador to Slovenia and Malta. As a resident ambassador she will be based in Ljubljana and lead the newly established embassy, handling diplomatic, political and consular responsibilities on the ground. Israel’s foreign ministry said the embassy opening and the resident ambassador appointment follow a reassessment of bilateral relations and aim […]
