Ogun State has produced its first batch of certified digital technicians through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative aimed at building a skilled technology workforce.
The graduates completed a free, three-month training program organized by the state government in partnership with Cybervilla, a tech firm. The “Cybersquad Training Programme” was designed to equip youths with practical skills in hardware repair, equipment configuration, and technical support.
At the graduation ceremony in Abeokuta, the CEO of Cybervilla, Ifeanyi Adirika, stated that the initiative has created a network of skilled technicians who will improve digital support services across Nigeria.
Government officials, including the Special Adviser on ICT, congratulated the graduates. They emphasized that the program breaks down barriers to entering the tech industry and provides a path to gainful employment.
A representative for the graduates, Timilehin Ajisebutu, pledged that they would use their new skills effectively.
In a related development, local tech stakeholders have called on the state government to establish a dedicated Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. They argue that a formal ministry is needed to better harness the state’s digital potential and align with national policies like the Nigeria Startup Act.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) by N75 per litre, bringing the new rate to N1,175 per litre from the previous N1,250. In a circular sent to fuel marketers on Monday, the refinery said the adjustment follows the de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East, which had affected energy prices over the past three months. The refinery also lowered its coastal price per metric tonne from N1,595,790 to N1,495,215. Both the new gantry and coastal rates will take effect from midnight on June 16, 2026. The circular noted that all outstanding unloaded gantry volumes will be repriced at the new rate effective 12:00 AM on June 16.
