Appeal Court strikes out Nnamdi Kanu’s rights violation case

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has struck out an appeal by convicted IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, ruling that his case alleging violations of fundamental rights by the Director General of the DSS and the Attorney-General of the Federation lacked merit and had become academic. Correctional service empowers Akwa Ibom inmates with starter packs

Fire razes shops in Anambra market

An early morning fire has destroyed several shops and goods worth millions of naira at a market in Enugu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The blaze occurred around Nkwo Enugu-Ukwu market in the early hours of Friday, leaving affected traders counting their losses.​ Eyewitnesses said the fire started before dawn and quickly spread through a block of adjoining shops. Police nab 10 suspects for kidnapping, robbery in Imo

The Imo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects for alleged involvement in kidnapping, armed robbery and cult-related activities in different parts of the state. The suspects were paraded at the command headquarters in Owerri, where police also displayed recovered weapons and stolen items linked to their operations.​ Police Commissioner Danjuma Aboki said the arrests followed sustained intelligence-led raids and patrols targeting criminal hideouts. President Bola Tinubu has declared a nationwide security emergency and backed the creation of state police as Nigeria confronts rising attacks, mass abductions and banditry. Army, police foil night attack on Benin–Sapele road

Soldiers and police officers have rescued a missing passenger after a late-night gun attack on two commercial buses along the Benin–Sapele Expressway near Obayantor 2 community in Edo State. The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. when armed men suddenly came out of the bush and opened fire on vehicles on the busy route.​ One of the targeted vehicles, a white commercial bus with registration number 166 XB, was carrying four passengers from Kaduna to Sapele.
