Troops kill eight terrorists in Borno, seize RPGs, guns and armed drone

Nigerian troops have killed eight Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in separate clashes in Borno State and recovered heavy weapons, including rocket propelled grenades, rifles and an armed drone. The Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, said the operations took place around Forward Operating Base Mayanti as well as the Gajigana and Gajiram axes during recent attempts by terrorists to attack military locations.​ At Mayanti, soldiers came under a heavy night assault by a large number of fighters but held their positions until reinforcements arrived, forcing the insurgents to retreat after suffering losses.​ A follow up search of the area confirmed five terrorist bodies and led to the recovery of three PKT anti aircraft guns, two RPG 7 launchers, four AK 47 rifles, two FN rifles, RPG bombs and large quantities of ammunition.​ In a separate encounter near […]

NDLEA arrests wanted drug kingpin after 13 years on the run

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a wanted drug kingpin, Reginald Peter Chidiebere, who had been in hiding for 13 years over cocaine and heroin trafficking. The NDLEA said Chidiebere first entered its net in 2013 over a cocaine shipment and was arraigned before Justice Ayokunle Faji of the Federal High Court in Lagos, but he jumped bail and disappeared. His name resurfaced in February 2024 as one of the alleged masterminds behind the importation of 49.70 kilograms of heroin from South Africa, intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The agency disclosed that after a series of seizures linked to him, Chidiebere could no longer sustain life in hiding and eventually surrendered to NDLEA operatives on February 13, 2026. Four mourners die, nine injured in Anambra multi vehicle crash

Four women returning from a burial have died and nine other persons were injured in a multiple vehicle crash at Agulu Lake along the Nanka Agulu road in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. The accident, which happened around 6:18 p m on Friday, involved 19 people and four vehicles, including a Toyota Hiace bus, a shuttle bus, a trailer and a Toyota Hilux. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, the victims were travelling back from a funeral when the bus they boarded, descending a hill at high speed, lost control and crashed into three other vehicles. The Sector Public Education Officer of the FRSC in Anambra, Margaret Onabe, said preliminary findings showed that speeding and loss of control caused the crash, and that all the drivers fled the scene afterwards. Plateau residents lament as serial attacks kill 19, farmlands abandoned

Residents of Plateau State say their communities are turning into wastelands as renewed attacks by gunmen leave more people dead and drive farmers off their lands. At least 19 people were recently killed in coordinated night raids on Manja community in Chakfem kingdom of Mangu Local Government Area and Tangur community in Bokkos Local Government Area. Witnesses said the attackers arrived around 8 pm, shooting into homes and forcing residents to flee into the bush, with many women and children among the dead.
