Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Ibrahim Zakzaky has said the Nigerian Navy’s recent operational successes are built on strong teamwork and decisive action across all ranks and formations.
Speaking at a naval event, the CNS called on navy personnel to maintain peak physical and mental fitness as they confront evolving security challenges at sea and along Nigeria’s coastal and inland waterways.
Admiral Zakzaky emphasized that the navy’s motto “Onward Together” is not just a slogan but a guiding principle that drives operational effectiveness. He explained that coordinated efforts between command, frontline troops and support units are essential for defeating criminal networks involved in piracy, kidnapping, oil theft and armed robbery on waterways.
The CNS said decisive action is another key pillar of success, stating that the navy must act swiftly against threats to prevent escalation and protect Lives, property and critical maritime infrastructure. He commended recent counter-piracy and anti-kidnapping operations in the Gulf of Guinea and Niger Delta as evidence of this approach.
He also highlighted the importance of innovation, tactical proficiency and attention to detail, noting that lives of naval personnel and the success of missions depend on each individual’s technical skill, discipline and commitment.
The Chief of Naval Staff urged naval troors to continue strengthening resilience, teamwork and operational readiness so the Nigerian Navy can sustain its momentum and secure Nigeria’s maritime domain against both traditional and emerging threats.
