A 49-year-old Nigerian man, Etinosa Osahon, is facing deportation from the United States after being arrested over alleged bank fraud and identity theft offences.
According to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Osahon was picked up by federal agents following investigations linking him to a scheme involving theft from bank accounts and the use of stolen personal data to carry out fraudulent transactions.
Reports say the Nigerian allegedly conspired with others to obtain victims’ details, access bank funds and move the money through various channels in a pattern consistent with organised financial fraud. The full amount involved has not yet been disclosed but investigators describe the case as significant.
Osahon, who is not a US citizen, now faces removal proceedings in addition to his criminal case. Immigration authorities say he could be deported back to Nigeria once the fraud and identity theft charges are concluded, depending on the outcome of his trial and any sentence imposed.
US prosecutors have in recent years pursued several Nigerians over similar offences, including romance scams, business email compromise and pandemic unemployment fraud, stressing that non‑citizens convicted of such crimes will likely be expelled after serving prison terms.

Jim Iyke says formal education is not enough for success
Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has said that formal education alone is not enough to guarantee success in life. Iyke said the idea that school alone can secure a successful future is misleading. He argued that many successful people learned important life skills outside the classroom. He also shared a personal example, saying he is doing better than some of his former lecturers. He used the example to support his view that life achievements do not always depend on academic certificates. The actor said he learned valuable lessons from traders and older people who guided him on survival and decision […]

These included roads, solar street lights, ambulances and dental equipment in some states. The commission was created to help reduce the number of out of school children and support Almajiri education. Critics say the new projects do not align with that role and could weaken the agency’s main mission.
