The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced reduced fares for the 2026 pilgrimage to Mecca, with each pilgrim expected to save an average of ₦200,000 compared to last year.
NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, disclosed the new pricing after the commission signed service agreements with Saudi Arabia’s Mashareeq Al-Zahabiyya (Hajj Service Provider) and Daleel Al-Ma’aleem (Transportation Company).
According to the commission, fares will range between ₦8.1 million and ₦8.5 million, depending on the departure zone.
- Maiduguri-Yola Zone (Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba): ₦8,118,333.67, down by about ₦209,000 from the 2025 fare of ₦8,327,125.59.
- Other Northern States: ₦8,244,813.67, about ₦213,000 less than the previous ₦8,457,685.59.
- Southern States: ₦8,561,013.67, reduced by about ₦223,000 from ₦8,784,085.59 in 2025.
In a statement, NAHCON’s media unit confirmed that the revised fares were approved by the Federal Government and reflect agreements reached with Saudi service providers.
Professor Usman urged all intending pilgrims to complete their payments by December 31, 2025, in line with the deadline set by Saudi authorities.
The fare cut, he noted, was part of efforts to ease the financial burden on Nigerians and ensure smooth preparations for the 2026 exercise.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has threatened to revoke the bail granted to activist and politician Omoyele Sowore and issue a warrant for his arrest in his ongoing cybercrime case.
